The Festival of Busselton is one of Western Australia's longest-running community festivals. Held annually in January, we provide a vibrant program of free events designed to bring families, locals, and visitors together to celebrate summer in the beautiful South West.

Our mission is to bring the Busselton community together through free, family-friendly events that celebrate summer, strengthen community connections and create lasting memories.

100% Volunteer Led

The festival is organised entirely by a dedicated committee of local volunteers who work year-round to secure funding, plan events, and coordinate logistics out of pure love for their community.

Our History

First held in 1964, the Festival of Busselton was originally created to entertain holidaymakers camping along the foreshore over the summer break. What started as a small collection of beach games and a sandcastle competition quickly grew into a major regional event.

Over the decades, the festival has evolved to include iconic events like Petticoat Lane—which transforms the foreshore into a bustling twilight market—and the beloved Float Parade. While the events have changed with the times, the core philosophy remains exactly the same: providing free, family-friendly entertainment.

Today, the Festival of Busselton attracts 30,000+ attendees annually and remains a cornerstone of the Busselton summer experience.

The Committee

The Festival of Busselton Inc. is managed by a volunteer management committee elected annually at our AGM. We are always looking for passionate locals to join our team!
